How to Care for Your Car After PPF Installation
Paint protection film needs very little attention, but a few good habits help it stay clear, glossy and effective for years. Here is what to do and what to avoid after your installation.
The first days
Your installer will tell you how long to wait before the first wash, because the film needs time to bond fully to the surface. Follow that advice, and avoid picking at the edges of the film in the meantime.
Washing your car
- Use a soft mitt and a pH-neutral car shampoo
- Rinse off heavy dirt first so grit does not scratch the surface
- Be careful with pressure washers near edges and keep a safe distance
- Dry with a clean microfiber towel
What to avoid
- Abrasive polishes and rough sponges
- Harsh solvents and strong chemical cleaners
- Leaving bird droppings and insect residue on the film for days
